Welcome and thank you for visiting my website!
The best way to reach me is by email at [email protected]
I am so proud and excited to be a member of the teaching staff at South Seminole Middle School!
I have been a resident of Seminole County for over 15 years, and my two boys are products of Seminole County schools where they both graduated from SSMS and Lyman High School.
Remind 101
I strongly encourage both you and your student to sign up for Remind 101 using the links on the Algebra and the Geometry webpage. This is a fast and effective way for me to get messages out to students and family members.
Algebra I Honors and Geometry Honors
Algebra I Honors and Geometry Honors are both high school level courses that use the exact same textbook that is being used on our high school campuses. The distinction of Honors means the content of the material, and the pace at which we work, are advanced for even the high school level . Both classes require a final exam called the End Of Course exam, which is most often referred to as the EOC. The grading of these tests is strictly pass or fail, and there will be review and practice for these tests.
The EOC accounts for 30% of each semester grade, and is averaged into the records during the summer after the EOC scores have come in.
Middle school students are successful in these classes when they are committed to regular attendance, completing all homework, and seeking extra help when needed. Your student can be successful in these classes, but they must choose to perservere and work hard for it!
There will be tutoring offered before school, and those dates are announced in class and posted on the website calendar.
FSA (Florida Standards Assessment)
The FCAT has been replaced with a new test based on the new state standards referred to as FSA.
My Classroom
My classroom goal is to create an environment where students can work hard toward personal success, while helping and encouraging each other.
My expectations are that students are prepared for every class, focused on the tasks, and respectful of each other at all times.
I am looking forward to a great year, and I am grateful for the opportunity to watch your students grow and learn!
